Movie theater to open in Falls Church
A new upscale movie theater is opening this spring in the City of Falls Church.
The seven-screen Paragon Theaters will be located at 112 Founders Row in a mixed-use building with multifamily housing, restaurants, and underground parking.
Jared Comess, a vice president at Paragon Entertainment Holdings LLC, anticipates it will open the first week of May with several special events.
Each screening room will have extra-comfortable, reclining seats, Comess said. Auditoriums will also have a special “Lux Box” section with even roomier, heated seats with trays and full dining service.
The first floor will have a full bar, lounge, and restaurant with hand-tossed, made-in-house pizza, sandwiches, and appetizers. “You do not have to see a movie to enjoy the food and bar,” he said.
The ticket kiosks will also be on the first floor, along with an escalator to take movie-goers to the theaters on the second floor.

Auditorium sizes will range from small and intimate with just 60 seats to a 200-seat theater with a huge screen, the latest Dolby technology, and a 4K projector. The complex will have total seating for 600.
The Falls Church venue will be the fifth theater operated by Paragon and the first in the D.C. area. There are four in Florida and one in North Carolina.
“We’re a very grassroots, hometown theater,” Comess says. The company plans to start hiring staff for the Falls Church theater in February or March.
Despite the popularity of streaming movies at home, he says, “when the studios put out great content, there’s no better community experience than being in a theater with other people.”
Great 🎶!!! Falls Chirch needs entertainment energy!!’
I just wish that theaters would reduce the volume of their shows so that I could watch them without getting a migraine. Many people I know have stopped going to theaters because they are too loud. My sister removes her hearing aids and wears noise cancelling earphones. I just have to hope the shows come out on TV-but there are many I would prefer watching on the big screen if I could do so without pain! Any chance this new theater will offer lower decible showings?
Good question. I’ve been to quieter rock concerts! Between the noise, the chairs that don’t fit my small frame, and the cost, I’m much happier and comfortable watching movies at home. I don’t care if I’m not up to date on the latest flicks; I can wait!
