New Annandale shopping center will have about 12 stores

The renovation of the exterior of the former Kmart on John Marr Drive in Annandale appears to be nearly complete.

The 125,000-square-foot building has been divided into a dozen separate storefronts, each one with a different street address, ranging from 4231 to 4369.

Work is proceeding on the interior of many of those spaces, according to permits listed on the Fairfax Inspections Database Online (FIDO).

A couple of the permit applications list the project as Eastgate Shopping Center, although it’s not known whether that will be the permanent name of the site. One of the permits, for 4239 John Marr Drive, states the space will be used for a “K Supermarket,” although that has not been confirmed by the property owner.

  1. This place had so much potential this space, hotel, with retail shops at the bottom, metro station in the heart of annandale, luxury condos.

    1. Elon Musk will be building a Mars colony before there are any metro stations near Annandale. In fact, faster than light travel should be more feasible than a new metro line here.

  2. What a disappointment This place must have been designed by a 5th grader. I'd give this place the name it deserves "Dump Plaza."

  3. Just what Annandale needs — another thrift store! Can this place get any worse? Disgusting. I love my house but I'm so sick of this place and the way it keeps getting worse and worse. A total dump. Congratulations Penny on another dumping ground.
