New Nando’s restaurant in Mosaic District supports Falls Church HS

Nando’s Peri-Peri, the South African-Portuguese restaurant opening in the Mosaic District this weekend, will donate 100 percent of all proceeds April 16-17 to Falls Church High School.

“As newcomers to Fairfax, we wanted to be good neighbors and help raise needed funds for student programs at Falls Church High School,” says Burton Heiss, CEO of Nando’s Peri-Peri USA. “We are delighted to support the Jaguars and can’t wait to bring our fiery Peri-Peri chicken to more Virginia fans.”

The new restaurant, part of a global fast-casual chain, is at 2987 District Avenue, Merrifield. It’s open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5 p.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sunday, April 17.

Nando’s features chicken marinated in peri-peri, also known as African bird’s eye chili, then grilled over an open flame. The first Nando’s opened in South Africa in 1987. There are now about 1,000 locations worldwide, including 30 in the United States – in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and the Chicago area.
