New principal selected for Justice HS

Justice High School, home of the wolves.

Sean Rolon, an assistant principal at Falls Church High School, has been named principal of Justice High School, Fairfax County Public Schools announced May 30.

Rolon begins his new position on June 20. He succeeds Tiffany Narcisse. In March, Narcisse said she accepted a new job as a principal in Bahrain.

Before his current position at Falls Church, Rolon was an interim principal at Glasgow Middle School and an assessment coach at Marshall High School. He also has experience as an International Baccalaureate teacher and a team teacher for students with disabilities.

“His familiarity with both multilingual learners and advanced learners will serve the Justice HS community well,” says FCPS Region 2 Assistant Superintendent Megan Vroman. “Dr. Rolon brings a collaborative leadership style informed by data analysis and a student focus.”

In selecting a principal for Justice, FCPS solicited comments from parents, students, and staff and formed a community advisory panel to interview the top candidates. FCPS administrators then selected two finalists, and the superintendent made the final decision.

“Feedback from staff, students, and families during the search process revealed a strong desire for a collaborative and transparent leader with strong communication skills,” Vroman said. “Cultural proficiency was also a key priority to ensure a positive and supportive environment for all students and staff.”

“Stakeholders emphasized the importance of a leader who champions student success, with a focus on academic achievement, safety, and meeting the diverse needs of learners. This includes past experience supporting multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and those seeking academic challenge,” she said. “Active engagement with parents, teachers, and the surrounding community was a recurring theme throughout the feedback process.”

Stakeholders also cited the need for a long-term leader in response to the high turnover at Justice. The school has had five principals in the past 12 years.

    1. That is a funny concern. I would not be surprised if was or wasn’t a school expense (probably PTA). I’m just glad it fit in the windows. If so concerned, remove all student street parking and start ticketing and that will more than cover the cost. Besides it had to be cheaper than renaming all the schools, which was a school cost.

    2. The vinyl is actually a security element. You can see out, but can’t see in. It’s a good investment. And with the name change, branding matters. Students, faculty/staff and the community need to feel connected for positive change.

    3. School spirit and school culture is an important part of the learning experience. If students don’t have a safe environment or culture to buy into, they will not do the extra work or care about doing the work that it takes to go the extra mile to reach success. Whatever the cost of the window vinyl (which is a silly concern) is worth it.

  1. Thank. Goodness. Excellent choice, FCPS! We know for sure Dr. Rolon will bring great and much-needed changes to Justice.

    1. I would like to wish Dr. Sean Rolon the very best and may he stay there for many years. I know for a fact that continuity is a big and major factor for success. I worked at Justice HS, formerly known as J.E.B. Stuart HS, for 24 years in the main office and I have seen first hand how a good principal can make wonderful things happen for the students as well as for the whole faculty.
