New shops, restaurants coming to Mosaic District

Lots of changes are in the works at the Mosaic District in
Merrifield.
Sundance, a national retailer selling women’s clothing
inspired by American artisans, rustic furniture, and home décor, will open its
first store in the D.C. area on District Avenue in mid-November.

Also expected to open in November is Erin Condren, a store
specializing in stationery, planners, and paper accessories. It’s also on
District Avenue, across the street from Paper Source. This will be the second
Erin Condren store in the U.S.; the first one is in Austin, Texas.

Local designer Meghan Evans is opening an independent boutique,
called Narrative, on District Avenue, offering women’s clothing and jewelry from
31 designers. She is planning a soft opening on Oct. 26. When we stopped by, Evans and Rebekah Murray, of the Virginia Dare Dress Company, were painting the
walls themselves.

Little Dipper Hot Pot is set to open soon on the other end of District
Avenue. The restaurant, specializing in traditional Chinese family dining, is
branching out from its locations on Annandale Road in Falls Church and
Rockville, Md.

MacMillan Whisky Room, offering hundreds of whiskeys,

concept” stores to Mosaic in June 2019, featuring games, educational toys, and a
Starbucks, as well as books, with the goal of promoting social interaction.

D.C. restaurateurs, Ian and Eric Hilton, who are also in the electronic
music collective Thievery Corporation, plan to open their first Northern
Virginia restaurant, Park Bistro, in Mosaic in fall 2019. The brothers’

Those new shops join several relatively new tenants at
Mosaic: Caboose Commons, a craft brewery opened in a former warehouse on
Eskridge Road Sept. 29; Nook, a creative play space for young children; Poké Bar; and West Elm opened this summer. Cheesetique
and bartaco opened earlier this year.
