Northern Virginia can enter Phase 2 of the state’s plan to ease Covid-19 restrictions on Friday, June 12, Gov. Ralph Northam announced today.
According to Northam, positive Covid-19 tests have declined to about 10 percent of tests given in Northern Virginia and are trending downward. The region is two weeks behind the rest of the commonwealth, which entered Phase 2 on May 29.
As of June 9, the Fairfax County Health District had a total of 12,820 Covid-19 cases, 92 new cases, and a total of 429 deaths.
Here’s what’s allowed in Phase 2:
- Social gatherings are limited to 50 people.
- Restaurants, breweries, and wineries can offer indoor dining at 50 percent capacity.
- Fitness centers can open indoor areas at 30 percent occupancy, and certain recreation and entertainment venues without shared equipment can open with restrictions.
- Swimming pools can allow indoor and outdoor exercise, diving, and swimming lessons.
- The Phase 1 guidelines for houses of worship, non-essential retail, and personal grooming services remain in place.
- Overnight summer camps, most indoor entertainment venues, amusement parks, fairs, and carnivals remain closed.
- All businesses should still comply with physical distancing guidelines, frequently clean and sanitize high-contact surfaces, and continue enhanced workplace safety measures.
