NV Rides provides free rides for seniors to Jewish Community Center

The JCCNV

NV Rides, a program that recruits volunteers to transport non-driving senior adults to medical appointments, is expanding.

Beginning in October, the program will launch J Rides, a free volunteer-supported program to help seniors attend exercise classes and educational and social events at the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia.

J Rides is aimed at helping older adults who don’t drive avoid social isolation and improve their health. Seniors don’t have to be members of the JCCNV to take advantage of J Rides; it’s open to ambulatory adults 55+ taking a class or attending an event at the facility.
To participate in J Rides, seniors should obtain a passenger application at the JCCNV front desk, 8900 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, or call 703-537-3074. Rides should be requested at least five days in advance.

People who want to volunteer as J Rides drivers need to complete an application and attend a brief orientation session. Volunteers will have access to NV Rides’ scheduling software.
