Police make an arrest in Food Star shooting
Fairfax County police arrested a man for a shooting inside the Food Star grocery store on Route 7 in Bailey’s Crossroads. Harvey Coleman, 33, of Arlington was charged with two felonies.

New Middle Eastern carryout spot opens in Annandale
A Middle Eastern place, called Basil, has moved into the old New York Pizza Factory Plus space at 7254 Columbia Pike in Annandale. Basil had a soft opening last week, and owner Khalil Dib anticipates a grand opening in December.

Inova forms partnership with DispatchHealth to bring healthcare to patients’ homes
Medical house calls are coming back to Northern Virginia residents. Inova has formed a partnership with DispatchHealth, which sends healthcare providers to patients’ homes for urgent illnesses and injuries that aren’t severe enough for an emergency room visit.

Annandale-based Korean American advocacy organization rebrands itself

Man shot at Bailey’s Crossroads grocery store
Food Star [File photo] There was a shooting inside the Food Star at 5521 Leesburg Pike in Bailey’s Crossroads, the Fairfax County Police Department tweeted at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. A man told police he shot someone in self-defense. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries considered life threatening.

Construction underway on Columbia Pike statue

Little River Turnpike improvements are part of Chik-fil-A project
This new road will lead to the drive-through window. Work is almost completed on a new turn lane from westbound Little River Turnpike into the Chik-fil-A under construction in central Annandale. The project also includes a new sidewalk, curb, and gutter in front of the restaurant.

County planners expected to recommend reduced requirements for off-street parking
Fairfax County planners are looking at how much parking is needed for such uses as apartments, grocery stores, office buildings, and shopping centers.
