Distracted driver hits a school bus

A white sedan struck a school bus at about 8:45 this morning in the 5200 block of Inverchapel Road in North Springfield, the Fairfax County Police Department tweeted. No children were injured. The driver was treated for minor injuries and was charged with having a phone in hand.

Wingstop is opening in Annandale

A Wingstop restaurant is coming to the new shopping center on the corner of Little River Turnpike and John Marr Drive in Annandale. Wingstop restaurants feature boneless wings for 70 cents per wing. The BP gas station on the corner of Columbia Pike and John Marr Drive in Annandale is getting a makeover. The project includes new signage, façade improvements, and new, faster gas pumps, says manager Lena Dawoud. The interior of the store won’t be changed.

Man arrested for attacking Connolly’s staffers

A man who attacked two staffers in Rep. Gerry Connolly’s Fairfax office with a metal baseball bat is in police custody. Xuan Kha Tran Pham, 49, of Fairfax, entered the office, at 10680 Main Street, at about 10:45 a.m. on May 15 and asked for Connolly, the City of Fairfax Police Department reports.
