Parklawn Little League field to be upgraded
The Fairfax County Park Authority Board has awarded the Mason District Little League a grant for renovating the diamond infield at Parklawn Park in Lincolnia.
The $12,945 Mastenbrook Volunteer Matching Fund Grant requires the MDLL to contribute matching funds to complete the $25,891 project.
The project includes a new infield area, regrading the field, and adding sod to the first and third base foul lines and the third base coach’s box.
The construction will be managed by the MDLL in coordination with the Park Authority.
The Mastenbrook grant program encourages public-private ventures that improve Fairfax County parks.
It’s named for former Park Authority Board member John Mastenbrook who come up with the idea in 1998 to create a grant program to support park projects proposed by community groups and individuals.
Since 1999, the program has awarded approximately $2.2 million in grants for projects valued at more than $16.5 million.
