Paws for Pets: These cats are inseparable

Blackbeard and Smokey are a bonded pair of all-black, male cats available for adoption or fostering. They are at the Fancy Cats adoption center at Chico’s Natural Pet Market in Barcroft Plaza.

Blackbeard and Smokey are from the town of Lebanon in Southern Virginia. Blackbeard is missing an eye, but both are healthy, very friendly, and playful. Blackbeard is more energetic, and Smokey is larger and more chill.

They are about two years old. It’s not known whether they are brothers, but they are very attached to one another and love to cuddle.

Chico’s Natural Pet Market is staying open, says owner Danielle Areco. Federal Realty had threatened to evict the store, but Areco mobilized her customers to fight back, and the effort has paid off.
