Paws for pets: Lacey and Lynx need a home
Lacey |
The Paws for Pets series focuses on pets – dogs, cats, birds, fish, ferrets, geckos, snakes, or whatever you have. Here’s one example, and here’s another. If you would like us to publish a post about your pet, send us a brief story – or just a few sentences – and a photo to [email protected].
Lacey and
her brother, Lynx, are a 10-year-old bonded pair of cats who need a loving human
who will take them in.

Meanwhile,
they are being well cared for at the cat shelter at Chico’s Natural Pet Market in
Barcroft Plaza by volunteers from Fancy Cats, a pet adoption agency.

Lynx is a
beautiful, rare brown-and-white cat with big ears, who seems to be part Oriental
Shorthair, says Megan Armstrong, adoption center manager for Fancy Cats. He is
energetic and playful. He loves to chase
toys and a laser light, jump around, and chase his tail. He is also quite
vocal, as he loves to sit on a lap and purr while being petted.

Lacey is a
sweet and playful cat who can be a bit shy at first. She loves to cuddle when
she gets to know someone and likes to sleep with a human and will even hide
under the covers.

Lynx is more
outgoing than his sister, but they are both lap cats and inseparable, says
Armstrong. “They love each other.”

Lacey and
Lynx are a little harder to find homes for because of their age and because
they need to be adopted together, she says. They are in the shelter because
their owner in Maryland could no longer keep them.

If people
love cats but can’t adopt one – if they travel frequently, for example – fostering
is a great option, Armstrong says.

There are
two types of fostering. A regular foster takes a cat home until it can be
adopted on a permanent basis and brings the cat to adoption events. A “cage break foster” takes a cat who had spent a long time in a cage for 30 days to
provide a respite. During that period the cat must be kept in a separate room
from other pets.

People who
can’t keep a cat at home can help Fancy Cats in other ways. They can volunteer
with fundraising, marketing, or educational programs or take care of cats at
adoption centers.

Great place for animal lovers. They know their stuff and love animals.
