Pedestrian killed in central Annandale

A 45-year-old man was struck and killed while crossing Maple Place near Martin Avenue in Annandale at 2:13 a.m. on June 4, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.
The man was struck by a 2015 Cadillac Escalade traveling west on Maple Place. The driver remained at the scene.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on June 5. He has not been identified pending notification of next of kin. He was walking from the north to the south side of Maple Place and was not at an intersection.
“Preliminarily, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors for the driver. The investigation remains active and details of the investigation will be presented to the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney for review,” the FCPD states.

This is the seventh pedestrian fatality in Fairfax County so far in 2021.
