Pedestrian struck by drunk driver on Route 7

A man was arrested for driving under the influence following a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Route 7 at about 8:20 p.m. on April 16.

The pedestrian, an adult male, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, the Fairfax County Police Department reports. The crash happened at King Street and Dawes Avenue in the City of Alexandria, just east of Fairfax County. The driver was located and arrested nearby.

Before hitting the pedestrian, the driver struck a utility pole and at least three cars while heading east on Leesburg Pike in Bailey’s Crossroads. The occupants of those cars were not injured.

  1. I reside at Skyline Plaza Condominium. Leesburg Pike (ROUTE 7) and at intersection of South George Mason Drive, is very dangerous. Speeders go right through red lights and pedestrians are in high danger. Elected officials have been notified of such danger. However, the speeders are still disobeying the law.
