Planning Commission approves TD Bank at Pinecrest Plaza

The Pinecrest Exxon station features a mural facing Braddock Road.

The Fairfax County Planning Commission approved a request for a zoning special exception May 7 allowing the construction of a TD Bank branch at 6566 Little River Turnpike in the Pinecrest Plaza shopping center. An Exxon gas station and auto service center on that 0.68-acre site will be demolished.

The new bank building will have two drive-through lanes.

There would be two right-in, right-out access points along Little River Turnpike and a full-movement access point along Braddock Road. The plans were revised from an earlier version to accommodate the future widening of Little River Turnpike.

According to the staff report from the Department of Planning and Zoning, a drive-through bank should generate less traffic than a service station. The property would have a total of 14 parking spaces. The bank would have up to nine employees on site. The proposal goes to the Board of Supervisors May 13.

  1. The other day I was driving into Annandale from I-395 and I almost didn't make it to the TD Bank on 236 and Backlick. Thank goodness there will now be a branch two miles closer.

  2. We don't need another bank. There is very little traffic generated by this station. Can you spell MONEY??? I am sure TD will pay more to reside on the site. This was a good gas station, and I have gotten my car inspected there for the past 10 years.

  3. Its sad. Good people used to own that station. The recent management is disappointing. We all will miss this exxon and Mintu as well.
