Police arrest bike-riding thief
Fairfax County Police arrested a man linked to multiple robberies committed while riding a bicycle in Bailey’s Crossroads.
On Jan. 27, patrol officers arrested Adam Houmane, 20, of Lake Barcroft, for credit card theft, credit card fraud, two counts of felony larceny, and two counts of attempted robbery. He is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
Since earlier this year, detectives have been investigating a series of robberies and larcenies committed by a suspect riding a bicycle. In each incident, the man approached victims from behind and snatched purses. None of the victims were injured.
On Jan. 5, a suspect stole the victim’s purse then later used the victim’s credit cards. Detectives from the Mason Police District’s Criminal Investigation Division identified the suspect through surveillance footage and obtained warrants for Houmane for credit card theft and credit card fraud.
Houmane is also charged with robbery on Jan. 10 on the 3400 block of S. Jefferson Street, attempted robbery on Jan. 24 in the 5200 block of Leesburg Pike, and felony larceny from a person on Jan. 26 in the 3400 block of S. Jefferson Street.
