Police arrest fugitive in Bailey’s Crossroads

Fairfax County Police arrested a fugitive in Bailey’s Crossroads on Aug. 28 who was wanted in connection with a disorderly conduct call and “considered to be armed and dangerous.”
The police department put out a notice on Aug. 27 stating Asenai Tesfamariam Zigita was wanted for Illegal Possession of a Firearm, Eluding, and Driving on a Suspended License.
According to a report by FFXnow, police began searching for Zigita on Aug. 23 after receiving reports of a man in a red Honda sedan following people in the area around Munson Hill Road in Seven Corners.
Zigita later contacted the FCDP dispatch center and made statements “that raised concerns about his mental state,” FFXnow reports. Officers located Zigita in his car, but he fled the area and was later seen entering a home on Steppes Court in Bailey’s Crossroads.
After learning that Zigita was possibly armed, police put up a barricade. They searched the home, but Zigita wasn’t there. Police swarmed the area, and the FCPD Fugitive Tracking Apprehension Unit located him near the Barcroft View Apartments and took him into custody.
The big police response was due to the contention that Zigita had a gun, an FCPD spokesperson explained. When he was captured, it turned out he wasn’t armed.
So what was the ICE raid that I witnessed at. Bancroft Views Apartments this afternoon?
