A heavy police presence shattered the calm of a quiet street in the Broyhill Crest neighborhood in Annandale on Tuesday morning.

Armed with a search warrant, police found evidence in a home on Bradley Circle tying a juvenile to burglaries at nine vape shops, said Det. Courtney Young of the Mason Police District.

The crimes were carried out by five juveniles, Young said at a meeting of the Mason Police District’s Community Advisory Committee on Dec. 2. They stole cars, then burglarized vape shops throughout Northern Virginia, including one in Springfield.

Three suspects were arrested on Tuesday. Two other suspects have been identified. At the Annandale house, police found a backpack full of vape items and clothing that matched a description of the suspect.

  1. Are the 5 juveniles residents? Parents have to be MIA to be unaware of retail burglary and vape materials in their home. Very unfortunate.

  2. Give it a few years, when cannabis shops start popping up everywhere. Vacant bank buildings should do nicely as secure facilities because they’ll be bigger targets than vape shops ever were

  3. It would be interesting to know the ages of the suspects (how many of them are 16 or older) and what charges the parents are facing too (the parents have responsibility for their children’s actions). This doesn’t sound like a youthful mistake. It will be very interesting to see how the kinder, gentler, and don’t punish criminals Commonwealth Attorney Steve Descano prosecutes this situation (if at all).
