Police recover stolen vehicle after traffic pursuit

Gaskins [FCPD]

An Annandale resident was arrested April 24 for vehicle theft following a traffic pursuit, the Fairfax County Police Department reports. The incident happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of McWhorter Place and Heritage Drive in Annandale.

Officers attempted to stop the driver of a 2003 Honda Civic that had been previously reported stolen. The driver, Freddie Gaskins, age 54, failed to stop, so officers used the “precision immobilization technique” to stop the vehicle.

Gaskins ran but was taken into custody and arrested for  unauthorized use of a vehicle, speed to elude, driving while license revoked (habitual offender), and possession of schedule I/II narcotics.

In other crime news, two juveniles approached a man sitting outside in the 3400 block of Charles Street in Bailey’s Crossroads at about 8:30 p.m. on April 24. They displayed a knife and took his backpack. The victim ran after the juveniles who dropped the backpack. There were no injuries and the victim recovered his property.

Three suspects broke into Arlington Motors at 6298 Arlington Blvd. at 12:18 a.m. on April 26 and stole merchandise and a 2015 Toyota Camry. The suspects were wearing dark clothing.
