Police seek tips on rape suspect
The Fairfax County Police Department is circulating a sketch of a rape suspect with the hope that someone recognizes him.
On June 11, at 2:37 a.m., officers from the Mason Police District responded to the 5900 block of Seminary Road in Bailey’s Crossroads after a witness heard a disturbance in the wooded area between Seminary Road and Leesburg Pike.
The witness observed a male standing over a woman who was on the ground in a state of undress and called the police. The suspect ran toward Leesburg Pike before the police arrived.
Detectives determined the victim was walking on Columbia Pike when the suspect began following her. He prevented her from walking away, then dragged her to a wooded area near Seminary Road where he sexually assaulted her.
The victim sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. She is being assisted by the FCPD’s Victim Services Division.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his late 30s or early 40s, approximately 5’5″ tall, 220 pounds, with a stocky frame. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a white design and black jeans.
Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 3. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers.
