Come out and play at Annandale’s Pop-Up Park during Fitness & Fun Day on Saturday, Aug. 24.
There will be free family-friendly activities and games 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the park, at 7200 Columbia Pike in Annandale between the ACCA Child Development Center and the Annandale Volunteer Fire Department.
Be ready to move – as activities will include a rockin’ rock hop, balance challenge, ring toss, watermelon roll, jump rope, disc golf, corn hole, Zumba, a hula hoop contest, bocce ball, small-sided soccer, slackline, and a big parachute. Dance along with a DJ then cool down in the splash zone.
The first 100 participants to complete an activity passport will get a free snow cone.
Representatives from the Fairfax County Department of Transportation and Bike Ambassadors will educate the public about biking, and the Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicyling will lead small group excursions for bicylists of all ages and abilities. Fire Department personnel will bring an emergency vehicle to explore.
The Pop-Up Park, a project of the Fairfax County Office of Community Revitalization, is a temporary community gathering space in an unused area of the Child Development Center parking lot.
The final event for 2019 at the Pop-Up Park will be Community Day, coinciding with the Taste of Annandale on Oct. 5.
Advance registration for Fitness & Fun Day is encouraged. Sign up at Eventbrite.
