Pop-Up Park hosts Community Day during the Taste of Annandale

Kids learned about traffic safety at the Pop-Up Park last month.

The Annandale Pop-Up Park is holding its final event of the season, Community Day, Oct. 5. 10 a.m.-4 p.m., during the Taste of Annandale.

The Pop-Up Park is at the ACCA Child Development Center parking lot on Columbia Pike across the street from the main action at the Taste of Annandale.

During Community Day, Fairfax County agencies and community partners will host free family-friendly activities:

  • Learn about animal welfare and resources available from the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
  • Discover the joy of making things with NOVA Labs
  • Learn about area parks and recreational opportunities from the Park Authority and discover literary and other resources available from the Public Library.
  • The Annandale Blog and History Commission are hosting the Annandale Oral History Project, where long-time residents will record stories about what the community was like in the old days. Sign up to participate here
  • Get into biking with resources from the Department of Transportation and Bike Ambassadors and help teach your children about safety at the mini traffic garden.

The Taste of Annandale street festival features food trucks, live entertainment and dance, a 5K race, beer garden, best-dressed pet contest, chili contest, and vendors along Tom Davis Drive.

Some of the Taste of Annandale activities – including the children’s program, free children’s dental clinic, and law enforcement display, including the police helicopter, will be in or outside the ACCA Child Development Center.

There is limited parting on-site. Parking is also available along Daniels Avenue behind the Pop-Up Park. People are encouraged to walk, bike, or take a bus to the event. There is a bus stop right out front served by Fairfax Connector routes 401 and 402.

All Pop-Up Park programming is outdoors and scheduled to occur rain or shine. If the Taste of Annandale must be cancelled due to hazardous weather conditions, an announcement will be made on the Taste of Annandale website or social media, and Community Day will be cancelled as well.
