Porsche dealer to relocate to Lincolnia

A Porsche dealer in Arlington plans to relocate and build a new dealership in Lincolnia.
The 67,000-square-foot property at 6500 Little River Turnpike is the former site of Rosenthal Chevrolet of Alexandria.
The new facility would be developed by the New Country Motor Car Group, the owner of Porsche Arlington, located at Route 1 and S. Glebe Road in Crystal City, the Washington Business Journal reports. Last month, Porsche Arlington announced it had joined the Euro Motorcars dealership group, which is owned by New Country.
An application for a zoning special exception for the Lincolnia property was submitted to the Fairfax County Planning and Development Department on April 27 by Lynne Strobel, a land use attorney with Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley & Walsh. The statement of justification says “the proposal will result in a new modern automobile dealership on a property that is already developed with this use.”
The project would include a 40-foot-high, 56,000-square-foot building with a showroom, office, and a service center with 32 bays. There would be a separate 10,750-square-foot service building with 18 bays and an enclosed car wash.
The two existing access points from the Little River Turnpike service road would be retained. A proposed surface parking lot would have 308 spaces.
The proposal estimates the facility will draw approximately 20 customers a day seeking to purchase vehicles and 30-35 customers for vehicle services. There would be approximately 45 employees, with up to 30 employees on site at any one time.
