Princessland vacates its building, but the business will continue, owner vows

The former site of Princessland on the corner of Columbia Pike and Maple Place.
Princessland, the spa for girls at 7224
Columbia Pike in Annandale, has closed just four months after it opened.
The business didn’t fail; it had to close
because of a dispute with the landlord, says owner Melissa Ochoa. “The business
was successful and all moms and girls loved it,” she says.

Ochoa hopes to reopen Princessland,
possibly in a decorated bus she can bring to people’s homes for birthday
parties or other special events. In the meantime, she is looking to rent temporary
space in a church or other location so she won’t have to cancel the parties
already scheduled.

Princessland offers hairstyling and
manicures for young children and hosts birthday parties and other special
events.
According to Ochoa, the owner tried to
get her to leave by demanding she pay two years’ worth of property taxes,
amounting to $20,000, although the business just opened in May. Ochoa, who had
a five-year lease for about $4,000 a month, took the issue to court and was
told she wouldn’t have to pay the tax bill if she vacates the property.
The owner, East Rising LLC of Ravensworth
Road, Springfield, could not be reached for comment.

    1. Please–enough with the "fake news" B.S. I come to this site to read the local news–not replay the national disaster du jour.
