Ramen restaurant coming to Pinecrest Plaza

The former home of Foxfire Grill and the future home of Kajiken.

Kajiken, a Japanese ramen restaurant, is going into the former Foxfire Grill space at Pinecrest Plaza. Foxfire closed in November.

Kajiken specializes in abura soba, which it describes as “soupless ramen.” It’s made with thicker, chewier noodles than regular ramen and can be ordered with a variety of toppings and spices.

Options include spicy cod roe, tofu, spicy minced pork, chives, kimchi, seaweed, roast beef, bamboo shoots, egg, and much more. The menu also includes ramen with broth, donburi rice bowls, and a variety of appetizers and desserts.

The first Kajiken franchise opened in Japan in 2010. There are now more than 100 worldwide, including three in the U.S. – in Baltimore, Chicago, and San Mateo, Calif. The company plans to open another 100 Kajiken restaurants in the U.S. over the next five years.

The Pinecrest Plaza location, at 6550 Little River Turnpike in Lincolnia, is expected to open this summer.

  1. Foxfire had been there for 20 years. It was a place you could walk to from The Pinecrest community. It is missed. Business landlords not fair with their rent increases.

  2. Foxfire was a great locally owned spot, it will be sorely missed, 20 years plus at the same place. I doubt the new place will last a few years?

    1. I was at Pinecrest Plaza yesterday (Friday) at lunchtime and the parking around the restaurants was packed. There are four restaurants in the section by the former Foxfire that have been there for several years — Hunan Kitchen even longer. On the other hand, there has been turnover of restaurants in the section facing Little River.
