Real estate brokers Vivianne Couts and Jenny Arias hope to bring a little warmth and coziness to the less fortunate members of our community by hosting a sock and pajama drive for people staying in homeless shelters.
Couts and Arias are asking the public to add a package of socks for adults or children or a pair of kids’ pajamas to their shopping carts.
Socks are the most needed – and least donated – article of clothing to homeless shelters. “It’s supposed to be a cold winter this year and, honestly, what feels better than putting on a brand-new pair of soft socks?” Couts says. “And can you imagine being a kid and never having pajamas –
Socks and PJs can be dropped off by Dec. 19 at these locations:
- Vivianne Couts’ home – 7041 Bradley Circle, Annandale.
- PR Performance Fitness – 4111 John Marr Drive, Annandale.
- Coldwell Banker – 4000 Legato Road, Fairfax.
- Mason District Government Center – 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale.
Donors can send an email to [email protected] to have them picked up or donate online and have them shipped directly to Couts.
Socks and PJs should be unwrapped and in their original packaging.
There are six homeless shelters in Fairfax County, two of them in Mason District: the Bailey’s Crossroads Community Shelter and the Patrick Henry Family Shelter. During the winter, many more homeless people are served at temporary locations through the county’s Hypothermia Prevention Program.
