Recent crimes: assault, robbery, and auto theft
A 33-year-old man was charged with being
drunk in public and three counts of assault on a law enforcement officer on
Nov. 24, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.
Officers were called to Leesburg Pike and
Carlin Springs Road in Bailey’s Crossroads at about 3:30 p.m. to deal with an intoxicated
man walking into the roadway interfering with traffic and shouting at
drivers.
When officers attempted to stop him, he took a fighting stance and
refused to follow commands. The officer used pepper spray (oleoresin
capsicum), and a community member assisted the officer with taking the man into
custody.
There was a robbery at 2 p.m. on Nov. 26
on Vista Drive and Haven Place in Bailey’s Crossroads. A man approached the
victim, demanded his watch, assaulted him, displayed a knife, and took
property. The victim was treated for injuries not considered life
threatening.
A 2005
Toyota Corolla was stolen from a parking lot in the 7200 block of Columbia Pike
shortly before 7 p.m. on Nov. 29 after the victim left the car unattended with
the keys inside. The vehicle was later
involved in an accident on Interstate 66. The driver, a 44-year-old man from
Annandale, was arrested and charged with grand larceny.
