Recent crimes: DWI, assault, burglary, shooting

The Fairfax County Police Department reports the following crimes in the Mason Police District during the
past week:

  • A man was arrested for driving following
    a vehicle pursuit on Leesburg Pike at Row Street at 2 a.m. on Feb. 28.
    An officer attempted to stop a 2005 Jeep
    Liberty for a traffic violation, but the driver refused, resulting in a
    pursuit. The driver failed to negotiate a turn and the Jeep left the roadway
    and went over an embankment.

The driver, Raul
Juarez-Perez, 19, of Falls Church, attempted to run from the scene but was
caught by officers. He was charged with speed to elude, driving without a
license, driving without headlights, and driving while intoxicated.  

  • The Ariake Japanese
    restaurant at 8708 Little River Turnpike in Fairfax was burglarized at 1:45
    a.m. on March 3. Three people forced entry into the business and took property
    and cash.
  • There was an attempted robbery on
    the 6100 block of Leesburg Pike in Bailey’s Crossroads at 8:15 p.m. on Feb. 28.
    The victim reported four men approached, displayed handguns, and demanded
    money. The victim refused and received a minor injury. All four men ran from
    the area.

There was a
shooting in the Franconia Police District shortly before 7 a.m. on March 5. Two
adults were injured by gunfire on the 6100 block of Hibbling Avenue by Doncaster
Street in North Springfield. They were taken to the hospital with serious
injuries. “Preliminarily, all parties involved are accounted for and detectives
believe the two adults are known to each other,” the FCPD states.
