Recent crimes include assault and robbery
The Fairfax County Police Department reports the following recent crimes in the Annandale/Mason District area:
A man was charged with robbery and assault on a law enforcement officer at the Exxon station at 6261 Little River Turnpike, Lincolnia, on Jan. 14. He entered the store at about 9:30 a.m., damaged property, assaulted an employee, stole merchandise, and ran away.
When officers found him nearby and attempted to arrest him, he assaulted the officers.
Darren McEwan, 34, of Alexandria, was taken into custody and charged with robbery, four counts of assault on law enforcement, destruction of property, and threats to bomb.
There was an assault at the Parliaments in Annandale at 4 p.m. on Jan. 9. A man walking home in the 4200 block of Whitney Street was assaulted by three men. The men took cash and personal property and ran away. The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
A man walking on a path at Wakefield Park in Annandale at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 9 was approached by two men who threatened him with shears, demanded property, and ran away after taking cash. No injuries were reported.
A man with a gun approached a victim sitting in his car in the 4200 block of John Marr Drive, Annandale, at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 9 and demanded money. The man took cash and ran away.
