Recipes sought for Fairfax Co. cookbook
Do you make a beloved, delicious dish with an interesting story?
The Fairfax County Public Library is collecting recipes for a forthcoming e-book called “Fairfax County Cooks: A Community Cookbook.”
This will be the first book in a series featuring diverse traditions and stories from the community.
Recipes for the cookbook must be submitted online. The deadline is Nov. 23. Submissions will not be accepted by mail or in person. To submit a recipe, use this form or download this recipe card.
One recipe can be sent per person. Recipes must be original and not copied from books, magazines, or blogs. If possible, upload a photo of your dish along with the recipe.
Submissions should include the title of the recipe, number of servings, preparation and cooking times, a list of ingredients and amounts, and step-by-step instructions.
The submission form also asks:
- What makes this recipe so special to you?
- What’s your earliest memory of eating or making this recipe?
- How is the recipe connected to your heritage or family traditions?
If a recipe is selected for the anthology, the cook will be contacted in early December and will be invited to participate in an in-person “Cook and Share” library program.
I’m sure they’re tasty, but there’s got to be a better way to plate those cookies in the photo at the top!
