Recycle old eyeglasses at the Taste of Annandale

Bring your old, unneeded eyeglasses to the Taste of Annandale. The Bailey’s Crossroads Host Lions Club will be on hand to collect them for its Eyeglass Recycling Center.
Members of the Lions Club wash and repair discarded eyeglasses, use a machine to read the prescription strength, label them, and pack them in boxes, says Pam Martinov, and operations director of the eyeglass recycling program.

They are then shipped overseas for people who need glasses but can’t afford them. The Lions Club also collects non-prescription glasses and hearing aids.
The Eyeglass Recycling Center is based in the office of Supervisor Andres Jimenez at the Mason Government Center.
The Taste of Annandale, a community festival, is Sept. 20, 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m., at the Eileen Garnett Civic Space, 7200 Columbia Pike, Annandale.
