Rotary club supports charities through Mustang raffle

The Rotary Club of Bailey’s Crossroads is raffling off a
1965 Ford Mustang convertible named “Black Beauty.” This is the 30th anniversary of the club’s vintage Mustang raffle, which is its major fundraising project.

Over the years, the club has
raised more than $1.34 million to help many local groups, including JEB Stuart High School, Glasgow Middle School, the Wounded Warrior Project, the Lee Franconia Football League, Fairfax County parks, and Culmore Cleanup Day. The
club also supports international charitable efforts like polio eradication,
water well projects in Zambia, and health projects in Swaziland.

“Black Beauty” is a
classic, totally restored head-turner and is meant to be driven. It has a 289 cubic
inch V-8 engine, automatic transmission, power brakes, power steering, power
top, air conditioning, a “raven black” paint job, “black pony” interior, and a
black convertible top. The winner of the
raffle has a choice of the car or $20,000.
Tickets can be purchased online or at many local events and
venues where the Mustang will be on display.  Raffle tickets are $25 each or $100 for five. The drawing
will be held Sept. 13 at the Virginia Wine Festival in the The Plains. There will be two additional $500 cash prizes. You do
not need to be present to win.
