Selection process under way for new principal of Annandale High School

Thomas

Fairfax County Public Schools invites the Annandale High School community to a meeting May 15, 5:30 p.m., at the school to review the process for selecting the school’s next principal.

The current principal, Tim Thomas, is retiring, as of July 1. Thomas has been at AHS since the start of the 2015 school year.

FCPS Region 2 leaders and a representative from the FCPS Office of Administrative Employment will speak at the community meeting.

People can submit written comments on the skills, experience, and leadership characteristics needed for the next Annandale principal by May 17 to Adam McGeehan at [email protected].

The Annandale PTSA president is collecting the names of community members interested in serving on the principal selection panel.

The panel will be held June 4 at the Gatehouse Administrative Center in Merrifield. Anyone who agrees to serve on the panel should confirm that they will be available for the entire day, 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m., although the panel might not take that long.

Panel members should be committed to the future of Annandale High School and should represent the diversity of the school, various grade levels, and various programs and activities at the school.

Anyone interested in serving on the panel should apply by May 16 via Google form, email the form to [email protected], or drop off a written copy of the form at the main office in a sealed envelope marked “Attention: PTSA President – Principal Selection Panel.”

The PTSA president will compile a list of six interested community members to submit to Region 2. The final selection of three panel members and three alternates will be made by the Region 2 assistant superintendent.
