Seven Corners transit center to open in 2011

The new transit center under construction at the Seven Corners Shopping Center should be completed by the end of the year.

The $1.5 million facility will have three bus bays and six shelters for bus riders, a bus layover area, and bicycle facilities and is expected to improve traffic flow. Funding comes from the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program.

The new transit center won’t be tied to changes in bus schedules, although there might be some route changes in 2012. The bus routes that stop in Seven Corners include bus route 1 (along Wilson Boulevard and Arlington Boulevard between Ballston and the Dun Loring and Vienna Metro stations), bus route 4 (connecting Rosslyn and Culmore), and bus route 28 (connecting Tysons Corner and Alexandria along Route 7).
