Shake Shack coming to Mosaic District

Shake Shack is expected to open this spring in the Mosaic District in Merrifield, FFXnow reports. Shake Shack specializes in burgers, milkshakes, and crinkle-cut fries.

The fast-casual restaurant would go into the space formerly occupied by Choolah at 2911 District Ave.

Fairfax County records confirm the burger chain is in the permitting process for the 4,000-square-foot building.

Shake Shake has about 250 locations worldwide. The only one in Fairfax County is in Tysons Corner Center.

According to Business Insider, Shake Shack plans to open 40 to 45 new stores in 2022, but mostly not until the fourth quarter. New openings were pushed back due to soaring construction and materials costs and labor shortages.
