Snow closures announced

Local officials have announced the following closures in response to a major winter storm expected to start tonight and bring up to 10 inches of snow.
Schools – All activities scheduled for Fairfax County public school buildings and grounds are canceled beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening, Jan. 24, and all day on Sunday, Jan. 25.  Â
That includes extracurricular activities, interscholastic contests, team practices, field trips, professional development, adult education classes, and activities by outside groups not affiliated with FCPS. A decision about school closures for Monday will be announced on Sunday.
Libraries – All Fairfax County library branches will be closed on Sunday.
Parks – All parks, facilities, recreation centers, and golf courses operated by the Park Authority will close at 8 p.m. on Saturday and will remain closed on Sunday.
County government – All Fairfax County government facilities, except for emergency personnel, will close at 8 p.m. on Saturday and will remain closed through Sunday.
Fairfax Connector – Service will be suspended on Saturday at 9 p.m. There will be no bus service on Sunday.
Metrobus – Metrobus service may be modified during snow, freezing rain, sleet, or ice, resulting in route detours, reduced frequency, or temporary route suspensions. Find the status of individual bus routes here.
