Space available at after-school, senior programs at Bailey’s Center

The Bailey’s Community Center has slots available in its free after-school program for elementary and middle school students.

The center, 5920 Summers Lane, Bailey’s Crossroads, provides educational, cultural, and recreational activities in a safe, nurturing environment. It’s open 1-6 p.m. on Mondays and 3-6 p.m. on Tuesdays through Fridays and is open to to everyone in grades 1-6, regardless of family income. The after-school program offers homework help, music and arts, sports, computer instruction, social skills, and nutritious snacks.

Seniors age 55 and up are invited to make new friends and learn new things at the Bailey’s Senior Center, which is also based at the Bailey’s Community Center. Activities include bingo, ceramics, chair exercises, computer classes, field trips, health screenings, line dancing, quilting, sewing, tai chi, and yoga. Hot meals are served, too.

The Senior Center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Annual membership is $48 for Fairfax County residents (or $24 for those who meet an income limit). For more information, call 703-820-2131.
