The Spotlight by Starlight Summer Entertainment Series starts this weekend at two Annandale area parks

The first show is Taiwan Cultural Heritage Night, Saturday, June 15, 7:30-8:30 p.m., at Ossian Hall Park, 7900 Heritage Drive.

There will be international music and dance programs every Saturday evening at Ossian Hall Park through Aug. 17. Some of the countries featured this year are Iran, Uzbekistan, China, Korea, Indonesia, Bolivia, and Bulgaria.

The concert series at Mason District Park kicks off Sunday, June 16, with the City of Fairfax Concert Band. There are shows every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7:30. The park is at 6621 Columbia Pike.

The shows at Mason District Park feature American music, including blues, rock, jazz, soul, R&B, country, and big band. The popular Capitol Steps will perform a political satire show on July 21.

There are children’s shows at Mason District Park on Saturdays at 10 a.m. The first one, on June 22, features children’s music performed by the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra.

The Spotlight by Starlight schedules are listed here and also are on the Annandale Blog events calendar.

The amphitheater at Mason District Park has benches. Ossian Park doesn’t have seating, so it’s best to bring a blanket or chair.

If the weather looks iffy, call 703-324-SHOW an hour in advance to see if the show is cancelled.
