Stormwater facility in Annandale slated for repairs

The site of a damaged stormwater retention pond on Americana Drive.

The stormwater retention pond on Americana Drive next to the Vista apartments in Annandale is no longer working, so the Stormwater Management Division of the Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services is preparing to develop a project to fix it.

The structure is damaged, there is erosion, and sediment is collecting on the pond floor. As a result, there is flooding in nearby buildings. The first steps call for stormwater planning staff to inspect the facility and survey nearby residents.

Not much swimming going on here.

Once a concept plan for repairing the retention pond is developed, there will be a meeting with residents in spring 2027.
