Students invited to join the Youth Conservation Leadership Institute
Students in grades 9-12 are invited to apply for the Youth Conservation Leadership Institute, a program of the Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
The institute focuses on volunteer service, environmental stewardship, and leadership. It runs from October to June.
Participating students will develop and implement a project of their choosing with assistance from the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District. Projects could focus on pollution prevention, natural resources conservation, and the promotion of environmental literacy.
The program requires a minimum of 20 hours of community service on the conservation of natural resources, participation in a virtual group discussion, the submission of an interim and final report, and a presentation on the work completed.
Applications are due Oct. 2. Download an application here.
