Stuff the Bus seeks food donations Saturday in Annandale
Stuff the Bus, the Fairfax County program that organizes food drives to help the needy, will be back Jan. 30 and Feb. 6 at three locations in the Annandale/Mason District area.
Residents are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to a Fastran bus in the parking lot at 21 locations countywide. The donations will be turned over to a nonprofit organization that operates a food pantry.
Stuff the Bus will be at these locations, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., in Annandale/Mason District:
- Jan. 30 – George Mason Regional Library, 7001 Little River Turnpike, Annandale.
- Jan. 30 – Belvedere Elementary School, 6540 Columbia Pike, Falls Church.
- Jan. 30 – James Lee Community Center, 2855 Annandale Road, Falls Church.
- Feb. 6 – George Mason Regional Library. 7001 Little River Turnpike, Annandale.
- Feb. 6 – Belvedere Elementary School, 6540 Columbia Pike, Falls Church.
- Feb. 6 – James Lee Community Center, 2855 Annandale Road, Falls Church.
The donated food at all but one of those locations will replenish the shelves at the food pantry operated by Annandale Christian Community for Action (ACCA). The food collected at the Feb. 6 food drive at the James Lee Community Center will go to the Falls Church Community Services Council.
Stuff the Bus events have been scheduled more frequently over the past few months to meet the increased demand for food during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some of the most in-demand items include canned tuna, pasta, soup, beef stew and fruit; peanut butter; bags of rice and lentils; hot and cold cereal; and healthy snacks, such as granola bars and raisins.
Community members are also encouraged to make online donations to ACCA.
