Summer jobs available at community centers

The summer program for kids at the Willston Center.

The Fairfax County Department of Community and Neighborhood Services is seeking people for summer jobs at the Bailey’s Community Center in Bailey’s Crossroads, the James Lee Community Center in Falls Church, and the Willston Multicultural Center in Seven Corners.

Potential applicants are encouraged to come to an open hire April 7 and 8, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Region 2 Human Services Building (Heritage Center), Suite 346E, 7611 Little River Turnpike, Annandale. No interviews will be conducted 12-1 p.m.

Available summer positions include staff for RECQuest, a program with games, crafts, and cultural experiences for kids age 6-12; summer teen centers; drivers; and other positions. The salary is $12.35 an hour.

RECQuest camp counselors must be at least 18 years old. Teen programming staff must be at least 21 or have the ability to drive a 13-passenger bus.

Other minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, experience working with children in a group setting, and CPR and first aid certification for children and adults or ability to obtain certification. Staff must be available to work days, nights, and weekend schedules.

Applicants should bring a resume, original Social Security card, DMV photo ID, and a voided check (to set-up direct deposit). Resident aliens should bring INS forms I-51 and I-551. For more information, contact the individual centers.
