Super Pollo to replace DC Steakholder

Super Pollo Charcoal Chicken is moving into the spot vacated by DC Steakholders at 6641 Arlington Blvd. in the Falls Church area of Mason District.

This will be the fourth Super Pollo restaurant. There are two in Arlington and one in Barcroft Plaza.

Super Pollo in Barcroft Plaza.

Juan Carlos Hernandez, manager of the Barcroft Plaza Super Pollo expects the new place will open in two to three months.

It will offer the same menu, Hernandez says. The restaurant specializes in Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken. They also have burgers, kabobs, and other Peruvian specialties like lomo saltado and yucca fries,

DC Steakhouse closed in mid-May. Equipment from the restaurant is available on an online auction site.

  1. Oh man, now we’ll really have the homeless and druggies hanging outside. They’ll stretch from the Clarion (constant police presence due to drugs and parties) to Super Pollo (drug deals by the CVS dumpsters), to the 7-11 (just robbed), to the top of Sleepy Hollow (needle exchange), to Patrick Henry (new homeless multi-housing unit).

    1. Tre P — What you are claiming here is absurd.

A place of business which sells delicious Peruvian chicken is going to improve, not decrease, our quality of life.

Try some of their chicken if you’re not a vegetarian. You’ll see.

      1. I’ve had plenty of their chicken in Arlington, Alexandria, Barcroft Plaza. Know who else likes their chicken? MS-13. This will become the new hang out.

  2. You claimed yesterday to be accosted by homeless panhandlers in front of the restaurants, and that the rear was a drug market.

I never noticed anything shady at the FDB strip. However, I admit I’ve only stopped in there about three times during the pandemic.

You mention crime problems at an assortment of distant locations in other neighborhoods miles away. Now your idea is that all chicken restaurants all attract MS13 activity. While crime is nothing to be ignored, all indications are that you are off your meds. Alternatively, can you post some links to police blotters or news reports of the rampant crime at Frozen Dairy Bar and CVS?

    1. Those locations aren’t miles away. All those locations are literally a stones throw away except sleepy hollow and Patrick Henry and 7, which are a 5 min walk. Look at a map.

  3. Oh brother, just what we don’t need – ANOTHER chicken place. I guess I’m just an old fart, but I miss Boardwalk Pizza, where the kids had post little league parties, and everyone ate Frozen Custard. Those were the days. I liked the steak place, but it wasn’t cheap, and I’m sure the pandemic crushed their business. Now that Dogfish is gone, where is there to go anymore? (And don’t say Peruvian Chicken!) Thank goodness we still have Duangrats, and there is a great Indian restaurant over in Falls Church.
