Taste of Merrifield brings crowds to Mosaic District
Lots of people flocked to the Mosaic District May 2 for the Taste of Merrifield. The event, hosted by the Greater Merrifield Business Association, featured live entertainment; a few Mosaic District restaurants; other vendors and organizations; a beer garden for adults, and pony rides, fire truck
tours, and other activities for kids.

Hard to believe that Merrifield was a forgettable dump when I was growing up in an adjacent neighborhood. Amazing what a lot of effort and some vision can do for a place.
It happened mostly because it's not in Mason District and has a Supervisor who ISN'T Gross.
Baloney!
Mosaic was built in Merrifield because it's in a District that unlike Mason District, does not have a knee-jerk reaction against any development other than a public school in a mythical, bucolic, park-like setting.
Voters who want to jack-up property taxes to generate the funds to convert Fairfax County Public Schools into Prep Schools for the masses (in part by forcing out working and middle class residents by making Mason District unaffordable (just like their model, the overpriced, overly-Caucasian City of Falls Church) have their candidate in Swanson.
Voters who want to keep Mason District affordable, diverse, and open to new development that would offer modern commercial, retail, and residential options instead of the current blight such as the vacant Safari Lounge which was the scene of a recent unsolved murder (based on the lack of any arrest being reported on the "Annandale Blog") need to consider re-electing Gross or electing the Independent in the General Election.
Based on how she has run her campaign, Swanson's only campaign issue is increasing Fairfax County's taxes to increase funding for public schools. Swanson appears to want to represent the interests of FCPS Superintendent Karen Garza instead of those Mason District residents paying their bills paycheck to paycheck who cannot afford significant tax increases.
Isn't this ~ the 5th time you've used the same Anti-Swanson rant for everything?
And BTW, "keep Mason District affordable, diverse, and open to : new development that would offer modern commercial, retail, and residential options instead of the current blight" IS an Oxymoron.
Blight rules until it is eliminated.
