Terry O’Hara Lavoie, co-founder of the Culmore Clinic, received an award from SOAR! (Support Our Aging Religious) at the group’s annual awards gala Nov. 5.
The nonprofit Culmore Clinic provides healthcare to uninsured adults in the Bailey’s Crossroads area.
Lavoie, a longtime Mason District resident, has also been involved with the Bailey’s Crossroads Health Access Partnership, directed the $25 million Survivors’ Fund for victims of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon, served as a tutor at the Bailey’s Crossroads Community Shelter, and was a volunteer leader with the Medical Care for Children Partnership.
She also held positions at several nonprofits and established a consulting practice that provided program development and project management for foundations and nonprofits.
SOAR! honored Lavoie with the Father Bob Brown Good Samaritan Award. Father Brown led the St. John Neumann Catholic Community in Reston from 1991 to 2005 during a period of rapid growth.
