Thai Food in Annandale is closing

The Thai Food restaurant at 7031 Little River Turnpike in Annandale is closing on Sept. 30.
The owner, Kitti Sophonthampan, is retiring to spend more time with family, says family friend Grace Griffith. Also, it’s been challenging finding enough employees.
According to Griffith, Thai Food will be replaced by a Korean restaurant.
Thai Food specializes in authentic dishes from southern Thailand.
“After 12 meaningful years, the owner has decided it is time to retire and begin a new chapter in life,” states a message from Thai Food to “our dear customers.”
“These past 12 years have been filled with wonderful memories. Serving you, sharing our food, and seeing your smiles has been the greatest joy and pride of our journey,” the message continues. “We are truly thankful for every visit, every kind word, and all the support you have given us. Your encouragement has been the heart and soul of our little restaurant.”

Thai Nakorn, Richmond Hwy. Mt. Vernon, Virginia. Only 5 miles past Springfield Mall. Authentic, Family Owned and Operated. Thai food with Laos influence. Best in the DMV!!!
I’m so sorry to hear this news. Always excellent food and service. And another Korean restaurant, good grief.
How many more Korean restaurants do we need in Annandale , we don’t need any more , wish it was something else
If you don’t like Korean food don’t move to the town with the second highest Korean population in the states 😭😭
We’re actually 21st highest for Koreans in the USA. Los Angeles, NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Dallas, and Philadelphia each have at least 5 times our numbers.
But your point still stands. If they want different food, go to a different place. This is best general area for Asian food in the DMV (Pho Real and Sala Thai excluded).
And also give the new place at least 2 weeks before judging harshly, as that’s usually about the amount of time needed to get a new restaurant up to speed.
Plus every new restaurant helps raise the bar for consumers, so I welcome the new contenders. Especially since we will soon be losing the Block across the street for new Apartments. =(
So sad to see this restaurant close! It was the best and most reasonably priced Thai in the area— we always made the trip from Falls Church!
