The Alley Cat is relocating to D.C.

The Alley Cat restaurant and bar in the Landmark area is closing and relocating to Washington, D.C. The last day at its current location, 2 S. Whiting St., Alexandria, is Sept. 4.

The bar is having a big party Sept. 3, with the band Chapter 11.

The Alley Cat will be demolished this fall to make way for a major mixed-use redevelopment project, called Overlook at West End. It will have townhouses, apartments, retail, and an office building or hotel.

The Alley Cat’s new location, at 5247 Wisconsin Ave., N.W., in the Friendship Heights area, is expected to open in November.
