The Culmore Clinic is moving for the second time this year
Five months after the Culmore Clinic moved to a temporary location in Bailey’s Crossroads while a new permanent space is being constructed, it’s being forced to move again.
The Culmore Clinic relocated to the Bailey’s Crossroads branch of the Columbia Crossroads Baptist Church at 3253 Glen Carlin Road in February.
In May, Columbia Crossroads sold the building to an Ethiopian Church, Holy Trinity Orthodox Tewahdo Church.

“The new owners have new ideas about how they want to use the space,” said Culmore Clinic Executive Director Lynette Sappe-Watkins, so the clinic is moving again.
The Culmore Clinic’s new space will be located in a 13-story high-rise office building at 6400 Arlington Blvd., Suite 940B, at the Seven Corners interchange.
The move-in day is set for Thursday, July 23. A moving company agreed to relocate the clinic without charge. It is expected to reopen the following Wednesday.
The clinic had to vacate its previous location, at First Christian Church of Falls Church, at 6165 Leesburg Pike in Seven Corners, because the church is undergoing a major renovation in connection with the development of housing on three acres of underutilized church-owned property.
Wesley Housing is partnering with First Christian to develop a 95-unit affordable multifamily building, known as Kindred Crossing, with 95 units for senior adults able to live independently. When construction is completed, in about two years, the Culmore Clinic will be located on the ground floor.

The Culmore Clinic is a nonprofit that provides low-cost healthcare to lower-income, uninsured adults who might not otherwise have access to medical services.
Clinic staff and volunteers also educate patients on managing chronic conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension, while offering counseling services, diagnostic testing, physical therapy, dental services, and referrals to specialists.
The new temporary location, in the building known as Lookout at 6400, is less than a mile from First Christian Church, so it will still be convenient to many clients, Sappe-Watkins said. It’s walkable, and it’s on a bus line. It’s also in the same building as Inova Cares for Children, Inova Cares for Women, and the pharmacy the Culmore clinic uses.
