The dogs have their day at Braddock Bark
Dozens of dogs and their human companions enjoyed a day in the park May 19 at the third annual Braddock Bark.
For the dogs, the event at Lake Accotink Park was a great opportunity to make new friends, get some treats, and enjoy a splash in a portable pool.
Dogs with a hunting instinct got a chance to chase a fast-moving object at a fenced-in area hosted by Luring 101.
The humans learned about dog training classes and veterinary practices, picked up some dog supplies, and played with puppies available for adoption.
Dog adoption groups at the event included Doberman Assistance Rescue & Education, Tersea’s Pups, Basket Pups, Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, A Forever Home Rescue Foundation, Bobbie’s Pit Bull Rescue & Sanctuary, and the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
The event was hosted by Braddock Supervisor James Walkinshaw with support from Celebrate Fairfax.
Among the dog-related vendors: Pet Suites of America, Pawtique, Becky’s Pet Care, Rocko Wear, Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, Treats and Triumphs Dog Training, and Paw Mind Body.
Dog owners with healthcare questions met representatives from the Veterinary Emergency Group, the Veterinary Holistic Center, Colonial Animal Hospital, and VCA SouthPaws Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Center.
