The polls are open today until 7 p.m.

It’s Election Day – so be sure to vote. The polls are open 6 a.m.-7 p.m. If you’re not sure where to vote, you can look up your polling place on the Virginia Department of Elections website.

You’ll need to comply with a new state law requiring voters to bring a photo ID to the polls. Acceptable IDs including a valid Virginia driver’s license, U.S. passport, or student ID from a Virginia college or university. Click here for more information.

The ballot will include candidates for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives and opportunities to vote Yes or No on a Fairfax County transportation bond and an amendment to the Virginia Constitution.

Candidates running for the Senate are Sen. Mark Warner (D), Ed Gillespie (R), and Robert Sarvis (L). 

Most Mason District residents are in the 11th congressional district and, thus, will find on the ballot Rep. Gerry Connolly (D), Suzanne Scholte (R), Joe Galdo (G), and Mark Harrold (L).

The ballot for people in the 10th congressional district will have Don Beyer (D), Micah Edmond (R), Jeffrey Carson (L), Gerry Blais (IG), and Gwendolyn Beck (I) listed.

The transportation bond would provide $100 million in roadway, bicycle, and pedestrian improvements throughout Fairfax County. Click here for more a list of projects in the Annandale/Mason area.

The proposed constitutional amendment would allow a tax exemption on real property of the surviving spouse of an armed forces member killed in action – as long the spouse hasn’t remarried.
